Salford Quays Masterplan

Concept:
Salford Quays district is an area of Salford in Greater Manchester, England, near the end of the Manchester Ship Canal. The intention was to analyze the potentials and create a more attractive, memorable, unique living experience inside an innovative and interactive environment. The concept for arrangement of spaces is a Fibonacci spiral that approximates the golden spiral with the center as a pavilion on the water.

Design:
The analysis and revitalization of this waterfront development creates an innovative masterplan. The design principles were established in a team with focus on: leisure, city park, education, sustainability, identity, waterfront, retail, pedestrian circulation, public transportation, and social activities. Existing regeneration project for Media City UK located on the North-West of the site has also been considered. The pavilion, in the center, introduces a community hub in the Quays to improve social activities with a semi-open structure considering the weather condition, to make the Quays as a leisure destination.
